Free "homework help" resources are available to the students, their families and staff of Peoria Public Schools, with the help of the Peoria Public Library. Students may access several resources with their Peoria Public Library card and their pin number. All of the databases are at http://www.peoriapubliclibrary.org/ under the elibrary pulldown menu (http://www.peoriapubliclibrary.org/index.php?section=31.)

Resources of particular interest to students, include:

·         Tutor.com – live one-on-one tutoring through white boards and instant messaging for K-12 and adult learners

·         Gale Testing and Education Reference Center – practice tests for ACT, SAT, PSAT and GED among others and college preparation materials

·         Tumblebook Library – reading tool for all ages offering skills practice, games as rewards, and various languages it can be used from pre-readers through older students practicing foreign languages

·         Britannica Online Reference Center & Britannica Kids – offers many research tools, workspace, video clips for creating Power point presentations and much more

All of these electronic tools are available under the “elibrary” tab on the website. Gale Testing and Britannica appear under “databases” at that tab. Students are encouraged to visit the Peoria Public Library website and try each resource out. All that is needed is a library card. Library cards are available to all Peoria residents. Teachers who reside outside city limits may obtain a special “teacher’s card” so that they may use these tools in their classrooms.
